Modifying Table Type

Though it is possible to modify the table structure by the context menu commands “New Column”, “Remove Column”, and “Column Properties”, direct modifications of the type definition in the Data Type document section can be more straightforward for more complex modifications or for a new table design. Every item in this section corresponds to the item in the Data section bearing the same name. Changes made in the Data Type section are immediately reflected in the Data section.

Notes

●
If the lock button ( ) located on the right of the “Data Type” title is pressed, changes made in the Data Type section are not reflected in the Data section until the lock is released.
●
Copying a column definition in the Data Type section copies also the column values in the Data section. (The column’s copy must be renamed in order to make the new name distinct.)
●
It is even possible to write an Enki function that manipulates definitions in the Data Type section (see the Reference Guide chapter Document Data Type).
●
The relationship between the Data Type and Data sections is analogical to the relationships between the other section pairs: View Type and View, Presentation Def and Presentation, and Output Templates and Output.
