Table Grouping and Ungrouping

Grouping and ungrouping tables present useful operations with tables. To demonstrate these functions, we use the table with a sub-table, as seen in the picture below. Although it is possible to perform grouping and ungrouping directly with the table in the Data section, for greater clarity, we create a separate view of the table in the View section. (This is done by dragging the table into the View section.) The original table in the Data section can be displayed in a separate window by double-clicking its title in the left pane.

Here you can see how to ungroup a subordinate table, resulting in a plain table without a sub-table. The source table (in the Data section) remains unchanged. However, any changes made in the data of the ungrouped view are adequately projected to the source data.

The table that has been ungrouped can be further grouped by another column. In this specific case, we will transform the original table, where there had been a sub-table of orders stored with every customer, into a table of available goods, where every item contains a subordinated table of customers who ordered those goods. It is also shown how changes made in the view are projected into the source data.
